Ruan Siam is one of the HITLIST of the LIST magazine 2007/8
"The shining star in the trio of Ruan Thai restaurants, Ruan Siam opened in 2006 with décor touches borrowed from the Erawan Group which used to occupy this basement site with such aplomb. Think subdued lighting, tropical greenery and tasteful art and you get the pleasing picture. The service is equally refined, though not overly fussy, while an attempt has been made to conjure up some new ideas in the kitchen, something the Ruan sibling restaurants often fail to do. The mixed starter platter for two offers excellent value, overflowing as it is with buttered prawns, steaming dumplings, chunky pork ribs, and crisp spring rolls, and boasting five dipping sauces. The more creative mains dare to lace a single sea bass with two very different sauces, though the sweet and sour does battle a bit with the chilli-infused cashew nuts, and the contrast may be a bit too much for some. Those with a less adventurous palate can opt for a generous pad Thai, wrapped in a Thai-style omelette. ..."
